TODAY Show presenter Karl Stefanovic has learnt a valuable lesson in being careful what you tweet. Especially true when you have 340,000 followers and a breakfast television show viewed by families across the country.
The 40-year-old cricket lover made a bold declaration during the Ashes match last night, vowing to get his “gear off on the show tomorrow” if Aussie captain, Michael Clarke, did not get one hundred runs.
The vow may have been slightly premature though as it turned out Clarke only made 10 runs before getting out. To add insult to injury last night was literally Australia’s worst Ashes performance since 1936.
Before he could back out, Channel 9 boss David Gyngell confirmed Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull was on board.
The prank then escalated further as a text revealed he too “expected nude”.
Luckily a strategically placed Ashes ball saved viewers’ eyes as Karl completed the nudie run during the TODAY show this morning.
And co-host Lisa Wilkinson had the last laugh, looking at the screen and saying, “Just one ball?”
