Kaia Gerber just reminded the world how much she has morphed into her supermodel mum, Cindy Crawford.
The breathtaking mother-daughter duo graced the April cover of French Vogue, and it is clear that the teen has won the genetic lottery.
Unveiling the cover that was shot by Mario Testino, Vogue Paris penned on Instagram, “Can you tell these two apart? Like mother, like daughter, Cindy Crawford and Kaia Gerber cover the April issue, out March 24.”
The magazine’s editor Emmanuelle Alt went on to call the teen a “genetic miracle”.
Gushing in the French fashion bible’s ed letter, she quipped, “The resemblance is striking. They share the same brown eyes framed by thick brows, the same show-stopping smile, the same cascade of hair and physique that would make Barbie envious, a true genetic miracle: Kaia Gerber, Cindy Crawford’s daughter, is a carbon copy of the phenomenon that she incarnated as a 90s supermodel.”
While Cindy, now 50, has appeared on numerous Vogue covers, young Kaia is making her front page debut at just 14-years-old! This isn’t the first time the duo have photographer professionally together, joined by eldest son and Kaia’s older brother Presley, the trio rocked a spread in the iconic fashion publication’s September 2015 American edition.
Clearly chuffed by the huge achievement, Kaia quipped on Facebook, “What is life?!! I honestly can’t breathe right now. A million thank you’s to @vogueparis & @mariotestino!!”
While the mum-of-two was a lot more sentimental about it, telling her fans, “Such a special moment sharing a cover with my daughter.”
Cindy may have over three decades worth of experience in the modelling, but like most protective parents, she doesn’t want her little girl growing up too fast and racing into the limelight.
“Today, models are expected to be so tiny and I worry about that for her, because that was never my natural body type and I don’t think it’ll be hers either,” she told NET-A-PORTER.COM in an interview last year. “Still, I’ll say to her, ‘Enjoy carbs while you can!'”
“Kaia’s blossoming into such a beautiful young woman and I really want to let her shine,” added Cindy. “I don’t want her to feel in competition with me, although I’ll tease her, and say, ‘You have my old hair–give it back!’ Or, ‘Give me back my legs!’ But she’ll be fine…She’s much more together and worldly than I was at her age.”
For all of you hoping to see the stunning duo strike a pose again, you’re out of luck! The retired fashion veteran revealed this will be their last shoot together as she wants Kaia to “to find her own feet in the industry.”
With two magazine covers, a modelling plus one of the greatest supermodels of all time happens to be your mum/and doppelganger… we think Kaia Gruber is going to be just fine!
