He’s spoken about wanting to be a dad before and now Justin Hemmes is preparing for fatherhood, The Weekly Online can exclusively reveal, as the bar tsar is pregnant with his girlfriend and New Zealand model, Kate Fowler.
Fowler is well on her way and while the couple have been together for less than a year they are ecstatic with the looming arrival of their first child, according to sources.
The pregnancy is a positive turn of events for Hemmes who has had a roller coaster year.
The passing of the hotelier’s father in March was followed by the sudden death of his close pal – and Antonia Kidman’s ex-husband – Angus Hawley two months later.
John Hemmes, the founder of the Merivale group died at age 83 on March 1 after a long battle with cancer, and Hawley’s funeral was held in his Vaucluse mansion, which Justin Hemmes now owns.
The bar tsar and Fowler were last photographed together at the David Jones Autumn Winter fashion show in early February where Fowler wore a loose, navy jumpsuit.
The pair have been very affectionate on instagram lately, with Hemmes posting an image of the two on January 15 with the caption “Ready….”
And the 41-year-old recently purchased a 60 hectare property on the New South Wales South Coast for at least $8 million, according to reports.
In 2012, Hemmes spoke about wanting to have a baby in the next five years with his long-term girlfriend at the time, Carla McMillan.
“I definitely don’t want to miss out on having children. I’ve heard this is one of the best things you can ever do,” said the hotelier.

Hemmes split from McMillan, who is a yoga teacher in her 20s (and whose name appears when you type ‘Justin Hemmes girlfriend’ into Google) less than one year ago, in June 2014, after they began dating in 2012.
The bar tsar whose net worth is estimated between $200 million and $250 million has also been romantically linked to Natalie Imbruglia and Lara Bingle, and owns over 50 venues across Sydney, including the Ivy bar where stars like Kanye West have partied.
And while the Merivale CEO has reportedly spent $60 million on two hotels this year alone, we’re sure this is the biggest venture Hemmes will embark on.
The Weekly contacted Hemmes office, but they declined to comment.
