It appears one of the 53-year-old’s closest friends, Julia Roberts, is just as delighted by the news.
During a chat with Ellen DeGeneres, the Oscar-winning actress weighed in on her long-time friend and former co-star’s plans to wed. “I think it’s sublime,” Julia, 46, said.
And despite never having met the soon-to-be Mrs. Clooney in person, Julia has given the 36-year-old a big thumbs up and thinks George has finally met his match.
“She is beautiful and smart and he is happy, and that is what matters to me,” she added.
Julia and George became fast friends years ago, in part due to their shared love of pranks, and were often seen getting up to some serious mischief during filming of the Oceans franchise.
We’ve heard serial joker George once put a bucket of water over Julia’s hotel room doorway in hopes she’d get soaked when she opened it. Apparently he failed miserably, with a bellman coping it instead.
