The 71-year-old is currently being treated in intensive care, TMZ reports.
Paramedics were called to her Los Angeles home at 2:30pm on Tuesday, with the caller saying she was unconscious. However, paramedics say she was ‘alert’ on her way to hospital.
It is not yet clear what prompted the medical emergency, or what her current condition is.
Best known for her hit, “Big Yellow Taxi”, the Canadian-born singer has previously revealed she suffers from a rare condition known as Morgellons disease, which makes her believe parasites are living under her skin.
Joni’s representative has been contacted by TMZ, but has not yet commented on her medical condition.
