The wife of Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp, Amber Heard, has been issued with a summons to attend court, after bringing her two little dogs in Australia without permission.
The Herald Sun reports that Heard has been summoned to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court after bringing her Yorkshire terriers, Boo and Pistol, into Queensland on a private jet.
The actress, who was accompanying husband, Depp, to his film location for the latest installment of Pirates of the Caribbean, flew into Queensland in a jet and neglected to declare her dogs’ presence, despite Australia’s strict quarantine laws.
Following her act of ‘smuggling’, she was set upon by Agriculture Minister, Barnaby Joyce, who aggressively pursued the case, threatening the dogs with euthanasia, until Heard and Depp left the country.
Heard will have to answer two charges of illegal importation and one count of producing a false document (the incoming passenger card) and could face a fine of up to $100,000.
Heard has been issued with a Commonwealth summons and is expected to face court in September.
