The 53-year-old, Pirates of the Caribbean star, is reportedly refusing to pay a whopping $6.8 million ($AU9 million) divorce settlement to Amber Heard after the actress penned a letter about domestic violence.
Amber divorced the Mortdecai star earlier this year after their 15-month marriage ended, accusing him of abusing her throughout their relationship.
According to the Daily Mail, Johnny believes that 30-year-old Amber has broken the terms of their settlement by speaking out against domestic violence.
This week, Amber wrote for fashion magazine Porter about her experience of domestic violence.
She wrote, “I want to remind you of your strength, a strength that has been multiplied by the number of women who stand silently behind you — a truth that allowed me to break down the doors I once found myself behind.”
She continued, “I never felt anyone would or could rescue me, so naturally I resented the label of victim.”
The previously agreed upon settlement includes a confidentiality clause which prohibits Amber from talking about Johnny.
While ex-husband Johnny’s name is never mentioned in the article, her words are particularly poignant considering that Amber filed for divorce from Johnny in May after she shared photos showing bruises and claimed that he had been violent during their relationship.
When the divorce was settled the pair released a joint statement saying, “Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain.”
It continued: “There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm. Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity.”
Amber has subsequently announced she would be donating the proceeds to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
