“I’m a lucky guy,” said the Pirates of the Caribbean actor as he gushed over Amber.
The pair married in February after a private romance that began after they met on the set of 2011’s The Rum Diary.
When asked by E! News to pick what he loves most about his new bride, the 52-year-old actor said he couldn’t because she has “far too many amazing qualities”.
“We connect on a lot of levels,” Johnny told the reporter at the LA premiere of Amber’s new film The Danish Girl, mentioning that “the first things that really got me was she’s an aficionado of the blues.”
“I would play a song, some old obscure blues song, and she knew what it was,” he raved.
But that wasn’t all the actor had to say about his wife. “She’s very, very literate. She’s a voracious reader as I have been so we connected on that level as well. And she’s kind of brilliant,” he gushed, smiling as he finished the thought with “I’m a very lucky man.”
When asked about his wife’s new film, Johnny said that he was “very proud” of her and that “it looks like where she belongs.”
“She’s worked very hard,” he shared.
The film is set in the 1920s and tells the story of artist Lili Elbe’s gender reassignment surgery, one of the first of such surgeries to occur.
“I always felt like I was supposed to be in a different time, you know, and I kind of felt that way about her the first time I saw her. So it looks right and it looks perfect to me,” Johnny concluded.
