John Lennon’s hair sells for a crazy amount of money

We’re not sure whether to be creeped out or amazed.

A four-inch lock of hair from the legendary Beatles frontman John Lennon has been sold to the highest bidder at Charity Auctions in Dallas, Texas.

The man, UK collector Paul Fraser, nabbed the hair piece after it was kept by a German hairdresser Klaus Baruck for almost 50 years.

Baruck kept it when he trimmed it off Lennon for a role in the 1967 dark comedy How I Won The War.

So, how much did it go for? US $35,000. That’s more than AU $49,000.

“This is the largest lock of John Lennon’s hair ever offered at auction,” said Garry Shrum, director of music memorabilia at Heritage.

“This world-record price is a lasting testament to the world’s more than 50-year love affair and fascination with Lennon and the Beatles.”

Other Beatles items sold at the auction, including a ‘before shot’ photo of Lennon taken before the trim, for close to $3,000.

The biggest seller of the day was a rare-sealed copy of the band’s US album Yesterday and Today that went for $175,000.
