The TV star has shed 11 kilos and feels as fit as when she swam for Australia. She shares her healthy approach to diet and exercise.

We’re seeing a lot less of Johanna Griggs lately – and the TV darling couldn’t be happier! Right under our noses, the Better Homes and Gardens host has quietly shed a remarkable 11 kilos over the past five months, and her body blitz has everybody talking.

“There have been a few compliments. It’s nice that people are noticing a change in me, because I really do feel great,” grins Johanna, radiating good health as she shares her weight-loss secrets with Woman’s Day.

“It’s called taking back control of your life,” insists the 183cm presenter, a glamazon whose slimming success has highlighted her cheekbones, toned her tummy and whittled her athletic frame down to 77 kilos – which, she proudly reveals, was her weight when she competed in backstroke at Auckland’s Commonwealth Games nearly two decades ago.

She’s certainly no slave to the scales. A relaxed Johanna says she’s never had any issues about her weight, and felt good about herself even when it climbed above 100 kilos when she was expecting Jesse, now 15, and Joe, 14, her sons with ex-husband Gary Sweet.

“I was as big as a Mack truck!” she cheerfully recalls. “Gaining 35 kilos each time was probably a shock to my body, but I didn’t regret it because I loved every second of pregnancy – and one of the benefits of being tall is that you can hide it a little bit more.”
