The Voice coach Joel Madden was asked to leave his room at The Darling hotel in Sydney on the weekend after five grams of marijuana was found in his room.
Police have confirmed that a substance “believed to be cannabis” was found in Joel’s room by a hotel cleaner who notified management. Police subsequently searched his room late on Sunday night, discovering 5g of “plant product”.
“A 34-year-old man who occupies the apartment was present during the search,” a police spokesperson said. “No charges have been laid.”
Joel has issued a brief statement via Twitter.
“Sunday while I was at work, a hotel employee found a small amount of marijuana in my hotel room,” Joel said.
“The police were called and responded. Sydney is my adopted home and I appreciate the way the NSW police handled the situation. They have informed me there will be no charges. I hope this didn’t cause too much drama for anyone.”
