The NY Daily News is reporting that Rivers’ motor skills may be compromised and the star could have brain damage or be in a wheelchair.
The 81-year-old’s daughter, Melissa, said the family were praying for a miracle.
A statement released by Mount Sinai Hospital said: “Thank you for your continued love and support. We are keeping our fingers crossed.”
Rivers stopped breathing during an operation on her vocal chords last week.
