The 48-year-old novelist, who has already written two crime novels under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, said she loved exploring crime fiction.
“One of the things I love about this genre is unlike Harry Potter, where there was a through line, where there was an overarching story, a beginning and end, you are talking about discreet stories. So while a detective lives, you can keep giving him cases,” the multi-millionaire was quoted as saying at a crime writing festival.
Rowling’s identity was revealed just three months after her first crime book, The Cuckoo’s Calling, was published. The author said on her website it was a “liberating experience” to write under a different name.
“It has been wonderful to publish without hype or expectation and pure pleasure to get feedback from publishers and readers under a different name,” she said.
Rowling said fans could expect more than seven books in the series – that’s more than the Harry Potter collection.
