Last year Jimmy Fallon faced claims he had a drinking problem.
But the father-of-two has hit back at the New York Post report which said his habits were “out of control” and the cause for several accidents, including a banged up finger.
“I could never do a day-to-day job if I was drinking every night,” Jimmy explains in a new interview with the New York Times.
“That’s just kicking you when you’re down,” the 42-year-old adds.
Jimmy also opened up about another controversial chapter in his life – his now infamous interview with Donald Trump in September last year.
The segment ended with Jimmy messing up the then-Republican presidential nominee’s hair – a move which many slammed as frivolous and helped Trump’s popularity.
“I didn’t do it to humanise him. I almost did it to minimise him. I didn’t think that would be a compliment: ‘He did the thing that we all wanted to do,’” Jimmy admits.
Online, the criticism of their light-hearted interview came thick and fast.
“It all started going crazy.”
“I’m a people pleaser. If there’s one bad thing on Twitter about me, it will make me upset. So, after this happened, I was devastated. I didn’t mean anything by it. I was just trying to have fun.”
