Star power seems to run in the family for television personalities Jessica Rowe and Peter Overton after their very own nephew, Sam Rechner lands his first major acting role in a Hollywood movie.
The 21-year-old actor features in Steven Spielberg’s coming of age drama movie titled The Fabelmans, which is loosely based on the director’s life and was nominated for the Best Picture Award at the 2023 Oscars.
Sam plays high school bully Logan Hall alongside cast members Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Gabriel LaBelle, Seth Rogen and Judd Hirsch.
Sam revealed to Confidential that his family members Peter and Jess have helped him persevere and support his goals.
“They are the first people I would go to on how to chase that aspiration and on what to do and what not to do,” he said.
“Pete has been my biggest supporter. We have a very similar way of carrying ourselves in that we have a lot of self-criticism, which keeps us wanting to strive and keep working hard.
“I’ve learnt from him that you need to put the work in and also recognise what you’ve done.”
Meanwhile Jess can be often found in the comment section of Sam’s Instagram posts, commenting just how proud she is!
The young Sydney based actor really caught the public’s attention after walking hand-in-hand with Australian actress Nicole Kidman – who was accompanied by Keith Urban – on the 2023 Academy Awards red carpet.
While it was all friendly touches between the two, people began to wonder what their connection was when Nicole explained: “This is Sam, who is the son of my best friend since we were four and he’s in The Fabelmans,” she told CTV’s ETalk.
However Nicole did participate in public displays of affection as photographers begged her to kiss Keith and she obliged! Nicole never needs an excuse to kiss her husband.
