Jessica Mauboy has announced she will be relocating back to Darwin with her partner Themeli Magripilis so that they’re closer to their families.
The beloved former Australian Idol has been living it up in Sydney but she’s ready to head back home.
“I am heading back to Darwin for a month to reconnect with my family,” the The Secret Daughter star told The Daily Telegraph.
The singer continued, “Them and I we will travel together and see his family as well. Family, that is my most important at the moment, now that Secret Daughter is off, I will be thinking about doing some writing.”
Last year she confessed “I hardly get to see [my family]. I’m constantly on the road so when I do see them I make the most of it.”
Jess, who just wrapped up filming the second season of The Secret Daughter, just released a brand new single Fallin’… And the song is a clear ode to her partner.
And Them loves it, with the Aussie icon revealing, “He was really taken by it, it was quite romantic to be honest.”
The 27-year-old is notoriously private when it comes to her love life and Themeli.
The high school sweethearts have been together for nine years and last year they moved in together in Jess’ Sydney apartment.
Last year Jess chatted to The Weekly about her new life with Them.
“We’re finally living under the same roof,” Jess mused. “Waking up with each other and seeing each other every night when we come home.
“It’s all so new and lovely. It’s lovely to know that our relationship is so solid that we can actually grow with each other now and not be at a distance only connecting over the telephone with all those huge phone bills.”
“There’s a sense of being there for each other, not just emotionally but physically being there and that has made a huge difference for us.”
The trip back home might be more than just reconnecting with the family.
In March, Jess shared with Woman’s Day that Them has proposed and she was already “making wedding plans”.
