She’s set her sights on the silver screen ever since she stepped into the spotlight, but Jesinta Campbell has revealed she has a surprising TV mentor – Karl Stefanovic!
The 24-year-old, who has been trying to cement her place as a TV show host regular, revealed at the Caulfield Cup yesterday that she thinks of old Karl like a brother.
“In TV I’ve kind of been taken under the wing of Karl Stefanovic, who has been amazing,” said the former Miss Universe Australia, “He’s like a big brother to me.”
“Buddy and I are really close to his family,” said the Gold Coast beauty.
But Karl isn’t the only hosting veteran to take Jesinta under their wing. Speaking to The Fix, the model revealed that she looks to actress and model Megan Gale for career inspiration.
“I’m lucky to have been surrounded by some incredible people in this industry,” said Jesinta, “I’ve always looked up to Megan Gale…There’s something so wholesome and dignified about her and the way that she goes about her business and the way she portrays herself that I think is really inspirational.”
And it seems her mentoring paid off – Jesinta joined Megan as a David Jones ambassador this year, adding DJs to her already impressive CV.
Jesinta, who has spoken out publicly about mental-health issues since her fiancé, Buddy Franklin revealed his own struggles, also says to she doesn’t try to be a role model.
“I get a lot of emails from young women and mothers who have young children,” said the former beauty queen. “But I just try to live my life the best that I can and if that inspires someone then that’s good, but I certainly don’t set out to be a role model.”
