With close to three decades in the spotlight, beloved Friends actress Jennifer Aniston has played her role of Hollywood sweetheart to a tee… but recently Jen has also been gloriously honest when it comes to divulging her opinions (while fighting back against her critics!).
Jen has given an extremely candid interview to Vogue, addressing the fact you could often see her nipples visible under clothing in Friends – this is something that’s earned her the respect of the #FreeTheNipple movement. While others have ‘shamed’ her for it.
“Yeah, I don’t know what to say about that!” Jen told Vogue when asked about the popular social media campaign.
“It’s just one of those things, I guess. I wear a bra, I don’t know what to tell ya! And I don’t know why we’re supposed to be ashamed of them — it’s just the way my breasts are!”
Hear, hear!
Jen penned an incredibly powerful essay, titled For the Record, in July 2016 for the a Huffington Post where she addressed the constant pregnancy rumours and how they affect her.
Then, in November last year, she gave a candid cover interview with US magazine, Marie Claire.
“My marital status has been shamed; my divorce status was shamed; my lack of a mate had been shamed; my nipples have been shamed,” she expressed, speaking of her marriage to Justin Theroux and her split with Brad Pitt back in 2005.
This is something she reiterates in her latest Vogue interview:
“I couldn’t hear this narrative anymore about being pregnant or not pregnant; you have no idea what is going on personally in our lives and why that is or is not happening and it feels … In my own brain, I’ve shifted my perspective, so who gives a s–t!”
“If you’re going to walk out and have your nipples showing, or your belly is a little bloated, or you’re not at the weight you want to be — you are perfect no matter what you are and no matter where you are and who cares!”
We think this is blooming brilliant advice to live by!
