A lot went down on last nights episode of Bachelor in Paradise, with new arrivals Ali Oetjen and Jarrod Woodgate stirring up the perfect storm in paradise.
Ali made waves by “killing the mood” and changing the group dynamic among the women and Jarrod’s arrival had the women on high alert, worried about his reputation as a stage five clinger.
But something else drew the attention of fans and BIP cast alike following Jarrod’s arrival.
It was impossible to miss Jarrod’s hand with a single fingernail painted blue.
“What’s with the blue nail,” one of the someone asks Jarrod as the group gathered around the bar.
“See? Great conversation starter,” replies Jarrod happily. He then uses the opportunity to take Sophie Monk doppelganger, Ali Oetjen, aside and explain to her what the snazzy nail art was all about.
In a one-on-one setting, Jarrod tells Ali that his blue nail is an effort to bring “awareness to child abuse.”
“I just want to support it. I think it’s time,” he added passionately.
Ali is impressed by Jarrod’s kind heart, saying, “that just shows what kind of man you are.”
All of this gave the two an opportunity to connect – win-win, right?
The blue nail is the official symbol of the Polished Man campaign, where men (and women) paint one fingernail ‘Polished Man Blue’ to represent the 1 child that dies every 5 minutes as a result of violence.
The idea behind the campaign is that the nail starts a conversation, which can then lead to a donation which then leads to prevention and protection… and maybe in this case, true love?
Reguardless, we tend to agree with Ali – that blue nail shows us exactly what a kind man Jarrod really is.
Let’s hope the island and the current inhabitants don’t eat him alive.
