In news sweeter than sugar, Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter has returned to school to present Valentine’s Day chocolates to her friends on Tuesday, February 14.
While Maddie Aldridge hasn’t quite been given the all clear from medical professionals, Britney Spears’ niece simply couldn’t pass up the opportunity to spread some love on the cupid’s special day.
“Maddie isn’t quite ready to return to school, but her doctors did clear her to bring in her Valentine’s Day treats to her class today,” Jamie Lynn, 25, wrote alongside a sweet Instagram snap of her.
“It made her so happy to see her friends, and be able to give them such cute treats. It was a great moment for us after everything that has happened. We are so thankful to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the ones we love, and we don’t take a second of it for granted,” she added.
Last week, the family released a statement better explaining Maddie’s condition after a quad-bike accident left her unconscious at the family’s home on Sunday, February 5 in Kentwood, Louisiana.
“With her father, mother and stepfather by her side, Maddie regained consciousness mid-day Tuesday, February 7,” the family statement read, according to People.
“Paramedics resuscitated her and she was airlifted to a local hospital. She is aware of her surroundings and recognizes those family members who have kept a round-the-clock vigil since the accident.”
The relieving statement continued: “Doctors were able to remove the ventilator today and she is awake and talking. Maddie continues to receive oxygen and is being monitored closely but it appears that she has not suffered any neurological consequences from the accident.”
The youngster was seriously injured on Sunday when the ATV she was riding flipped over into a pond after she swerved to avoid a ditch. She was reportedly underwater for several minutes, trapped by the vehicle’s seatbelt, before being dragged unconscious to dry land.
Following the accident, the family asked friends and fans for support, with Britney Spears tweeting: “Need all the wishes and prayers for my niece.”
The family must be overjoyed with the happy ending to what could have been a tragic story.
