Shane Warne and Elizabeth Hurley have ended their relationship.
The pair, who started dating in 2010 and got engaged in 2011, were working to repair their relationship after a temporary separation in September.
But despite their best efforts, Liz and Shane couldn’t recapture their romance.
“It is very sad and they tried to make it work but there were just too many issues in the way,” a source told Hello! magazine.
“Elizabeth is taking it one day at a time. She will always be extremely fond of Shane.”
Since the pair began dating, their relationship has been played out on Twitter and this is still the case, with Shane, 44, tweeting the cryptic message: ‘Live life for what tomorrow has to offer, not for what happened yesterday.’
During their split in September, all eyes were on Shane’s ex-wife Simone, who was said to be the reason for the pair’s troubles.
But Warne also landed himself in hot water after being caught red-handed by Liz, 48, when she found a mysterious mobile phone, containing intimate text messages, nestled away in his suitcase packed for a trip back to Australia.
“The row between them was a bad one after Elizabeth came across a mobile phone,” a source told UK Mail.
“When she took a look there were things which made her a bit suspicious – including some text messages to people she didn’t know.”
The pair has not been photographed together since November and, during that time, Liz has been spotted numerous repeatedly without her sapphire engagement ring.
The pair are now set to spend Christmas apart.
While Elizabeth will spend the holidays with her 11-year-old son at Donnington Hall in Herefordshire, Shane will take time out in his former family home with his three children. Where Simone figures in all of this, only time will tell.
