“It’s just something he liked to do”: Russell Crowe relives getting pranked called by Michael Jackson

It’s a rather odd friendship, but Russell Crowe reveals how he fell victim to Michael Jackson’s humorous prank calls.

The Oscar winning actor shared the story of his strange relationship with the King of Pop in an interview with The Guardian back in March.

“For three f—ing years, I never met him, never shook his hand, but he found out the name I stayed in hotels under. So it didn’t matter where I was, he’d ring up. Do the kind of thing you did when you were 10,” the actor told the British newspaper.

“Is Mr Wall there? Is Mrs Wall there? Then what’s holding the roof up? You’re supposed to grow out of doing that right?”

During an appearance on the Today Show on Wednesday to promote the US release of his directorial debut The Water Diviner, the 51 year-old talked fondly about the cheeky calls.

“If you know Michael, then you know it’s a real thing, it’s just something he liked to do,” Rusty explained before imitating the music legend’s high-pitched voice,

“If you’d go ‘who’s this’ he’d go ‘don’t worry Russell. It’s only Michael.’”

While the superstar, who tragically passed away in 2009, was well known for his eccentric behaviour – this is one friendship we didn’t see coming!
