22 year-old Malik is reportedly in talks with Bend It Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha.
The famed director says discussions with Zayn are in full swing and she hopes to have a role for him soon.
Malik isn’t the first pop superstar to try his hand at the big screen, close friend and fellow Brit Ed Sheeran announced only months ago that he’ll be starring in a Bollywoodflick.
A month on since Zayn’s shock exit from the band during their world tour, he broke his silence by tweeting his appreciation to those that have stood by him.
“Wanna say thanks to everyone that’s been there for me over the last few weeks, love to you all… you know who you are x,” the Brit crooner wrote to his 14.6 million twitter followers.
Last Friday Zayn made his first solo appearance since departing the boy band, debuting a smouldering shaved hairdo.
He was honoured with most outstanding achievement in Music at the Asian Awards in London, arriving with bestie Naughty Boy.
During his acceptance speech the star expressed his affection towards the remaining members of One Direction, saying there’s no hard feelings.
“I’d also like to take this moment to thank four of the best guys that I ever met whilst being in the band and doing all the amazing things that I did. Some of the things that we did will stay with me for the rest of my life”
You can almost hear the sobs of passionate Directioners everywhere.
