The palace has confirmed that the baby is due in April and it has been widely reported that the 33 year-old is due to give birth towards the end of the month.
The Duchess’ pregnancy was announced by Kensington Palace on September 8 after Kate had to pull out of an official engagement. It is believed she was five or six weeks pregnant when it was announced, but this has not been confirmed.
The new information has come via artist Paul Cummins who created the ‘Seas of Red’ installation of 888, 246 poppies (one for each British and colonial life lost in WW1) at the Tower of London last year. The Duchess visited the installation on August 5, but as Cummins told The Times newspaper in the UK, she almost didn’t make it due to her Hyperemisis Gravidarum – severe morning sickness – that she has suffered with both of her pregnancies.
“Kate was not going to come as, though it had not been announced, she was already pregnant and suffering,” Paul told The Sunday Times. “But she insisted. It was her last public outing for a while.”
That Kate felt ill in August suggests that the baby might be due earlier in April.
The Duke and Duchess have not confirmed the sex of the baby. Kate is expected to continue with her official engagements until mid-March when she will rest and prepare for the new addition to the family.
