In a torrent of Tweets the daughter of actors Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger has announced she “needed a breather” and time to work on herself which is why she went to rehab.
On Monday Ireland Baldwin, 19, said she was seeking treatment for “emotional trauma” at the SOBA Recovery Center Malibu, California – a facility that specialises in psychological disorders and addiction.
On Twitter the young model hit back at claims posted on Radar Online that she “unwillingly” checked herself in and was seeking treatment for substance abuse issues.
“I checked myself into Soba for two weeks to just get away for a little bit,” Baldwin wrote. “I’m not much a party cat but I am here deal with some emotional trauma and getting the intensive therapy I needed in order to recover.”
Baldwin added: “Someday I’ll feel ready to share my story openly without feeling the way I do.
“Right now I just needed a breather. I needed a chance to work on myself and gather all the tools I need to overcome everything that I had been through and rid myself of all the pain I locked away in unreachable places.”
Thus far neither of her actor parents, Alec or Kim have addressed their daughter’s rehab stay publicly.

Other children of celebrities have spoken out about the curses of fame and many went on to become entertainers in their own right.
