It seems the first fleet brought iphones with them when they settled in this great country of ours.
The revelation comes as an iphone has appeared in photos for historical drama, Banished, starring Governor Arthur Phillip on set in the late 1700’s.
The BBC this week released promotional shots for the series, which is based on the First Fleet’s arrival in Australia, and one photo featuring Governor Phillip donning an iphone in his pocket hundreds of years before the tech giant released one has caught the eye of many.
David Wenham – with iphone on hand – stars as Governor Phillip in Banished, which airs on Foxtel on Thursday.
Over three million UK viewers tuned in to the first episode in March, which we imagine – and hope – features zero Apple products.
And if the network is slightly red-faced, they can find consolation in the memory of a Downton Abbey promotional photo in 2014, where two characters were photographed on set with a plastic bottle starring in the background.
Banished also features Australian actor Ryan Corr, who is best known for his roles in Packed to the Rafters and The Water Diviner, directed by Russel Crowe.
