A representative for the pair has confirmed the couple tied the knot on Saturday, at a small chapel on the couples wine growing estate known as Château Miraval in Correns- a town in rural France. Apparently even local officials were surprised by the news. “No one in Correns knew a thing,” an official from the French village told People. “It was a marriage which seems to have been carried out in total intimacy and absolute discretion.”

The estate of Château Miraval is a location close to Brad and Angelina’s hearts, set on over 1,100 acres, the property features a 35-room main house and a working vineyard in addition to an ancient chapel which it’s understood is where the nuptials took place.

The family arrived by private jet in Nice on Friday before being chauffeured on the 90 minute drive to their private estate, according to a local paper the Nice-Matin.

Angelina wore a dress that was “very traditional, but very Angie,” a source toldE! New.”It was comfortable with plain white floor length antique lace and silk.”

She also wore a veil and according to the source: “Brad lifted it [he] gasped because she looked so stunning.” Angelina also wore small gold locket that once belonged to her late mother Marcheline Bertrand.

There were only 22 people in attendance including Pitt’s parents Bill and Jane Pitt, his brother Doug and sister Julie plus of course the couple’s six children. Angelina’s father, Jon Voight, was not in attendance. The representative for the couple told the Associated Press that Maddox, 13, Pax, 11, Zahara, 9, Shiloh, 8, and 6-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne all took part in the private ceremony.

Maddox and Pax and Knox are believed to have played ring bearers with rings specially designed by the couple’s friend Robert Procop. Zahara, Shiloh and Vivienne were the flower girls with baskets of rose petals they’d picked in the garden on the estate that morning, in details revealed by a source to E! News.

The source said that: “The chapel smelt of rosemary and jasmine from the bushes outside the window and the sun streamed in the tint-stained glass windows.”

After the wedding, the couple and their guests returned to the “Great Hall” at the main house on the estate and  “had a big celebration lunch with local hams, cheeses, freshly caught sea bass, Italian pastas and champagne, as well as Chateau Miraval rosé wine [Pitt and Jolie’s own brand],” the source reveals.

“There were three different types of cakes, all picked by the kids—one was a strawberry ice cream one, another was a three chocolate gateau and a third had fresh cream and raspberries.”

Brad is believed to have discretely made arrangements for the big day on a recent 10 day visit in July when it’s reported he contacted a local florist – no doubt to prep floral arrangements for the wedding celebration.

Brad and Ange have kept everyone guessing for years when their big day would occur. The couple have been together for nearly a decade and have six children together, so clearly were in no rush.

The timing worked out well as it seems they managed to get hitched just when everyone was least expecting.

Adding to the surprise, the pair seemed to have squeezed in their big day in between two hectic work schedules. Angelina has been busy prepping her directorial project By the Sea- a film that she is also co- starring in with Brad.

Angelina quickly got back to filming in Malta, while Brad also got back to work in New York.

Meanwhile, Brad was back on the promotional bandwagon as soon as yesterday (his fifth day as a married man) when he managed to keep his wedding ring discrete as he attended a photocall for his upcoming film Fury.
