Iconic Aussie soap Neighbours is known for its superstar celebrity cameos.
From The Bold And The Beautiful‘s Katherine Kelly Lang to British pop star Lily Allen, many big names have walked along Ramsay Street, and now the show is adding another well-known name to the impressive list: Deborra-Lee Furness.

Deborra-Lee also has a heart of gold, founding the Adopt Change charity in 2008 which works to “support and educate families and communities in caring for displaced children.”
The cause close to the 64-year-old’s heart is also the reason she has joined forces with Neighbours.
Deborra-Lee will be on set with Neighbours from late February.
(Image: Network Ten)This February, Deborra-Lee will be taking over the director’s chair to produce a special storyline surrounding two favourites who “embark on a journey to becoming permanent carers.”
“I am thrilled to be collaborating with the team at Neighbours to direct these episodes and tell a story that is not often represented in mainstream media,” Deborra-Lee tells.
“There are almost 50,000 Australian children currently in temporary out-of-home care. We only get glimpses into their reality, and unfortunately that is usually when there are catastrophic outcomes.”

Husband Hugh recently made headlines when he shared an emotional video message to nine-year-old Queensland boy, Quaden Bayles.
Quaden gathered attention online after his mother shared a distressing video of her child, who was born with dwarfism, crying that he “wants to die” as a result of bullying.
Hugh posted a video response on Twitter to Quaden saying “You’re stronger than you know, mate, and no matter what you’ve got a friend in me” before reminding fans to be kind to one another.
