He took America by storm as The Boy From Oz, and now Hugh Jackman is keen to move back to his homeland with his family.

While Hugh, wife Deborra-lee Furness and their children, Oscar, 10, and Ava, 5, have made the most of life in the Big Apple – enjoying Broadway shows and playing in the snow in equal measures – he’s said to be eager to trade off the icy city for the warmth of the Aussie countryside.

Instead of returning to his old Sydney haunts, the 42-year-old Wolverine star is scouring the leafy Mornington Peninsula suburb of Mount Eliza, south-east of Melbourne, for his new home. Hugh and Deborra-lee are determined, according to insiders, to give their children the best possible upbringing.

“They want a good environment for the children and to be close to family and friends,” one insider tells Woman’s Day. “They are a lovely couple with family in Melbourne. Education for their children is another reason they are looking at places there.”

And it seems the couple’s resolve was only strengthened after spending the festive season with family here. “Do you know what my kids want for Christmas?” Deborra-lee, 56, recently told reporters of their trip home. “To convince Mum and Dad to live in Melbourne.”
