Speaking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, Jackman, said Rivers had asked him to perform at her memorial years ago after watching him in the musical The Boy From Oz.

“It was amazing,” the 45-year-old said of the funeral service. “I must admit: I’ve been to several funerals, and I’ve always kind of felt for the person who has to sing. I’ve always said, ‘Oh, how do you do that?'”

“I sang a song from that. It was called ‘Quiet Please, There’s A Lady On Stage.’ It’s a beautiful celebration of a woman, and it was for her,” Jackman told Fallon.

Celebrities including, Sarah Jessica Parker, Whoopi Goldberg, Donald Trump, Diane Sawyer, Barbara Walters and Kelly Osbourne joined Jackman at the service on Sunday.

Rivers diedat the age of 81 in New York’s Mount Sinai Hospital on September 4 – a week after she suffered cardiac arrest during a medical procedure at a clinic.
