They’re one of the world’s most talked about couples but James Packer and Mariah Carey have managed to keep quiet on their relationship.
However, Mariah’s long-time friend, The Revenant producer Brett Ratner, has given us an intimate look into their sweet love story.
Brett told PEOPLE that the two were just friends at first saying, “It organically happened, which is such a beautiful thing.”
“Mariah’s my friend; she’s always around,” he explains. “James is my partner.”
“They hung out as friends first so that was a beautiful thing and beautiful way to get together with somebody. And I’m happy to be in the middle of it!”

Mariah and James first met in 2014 and announced their engagement in January of this year.
“She’s been a friend for so, so many years,” Brett continued.
“I’m not allowed to say how many because that will age us. But I call her my Aries sister because we’re born like a day apart. And she’s such a great friend. I directed most of her music videos, at least the best ones.”
He added that Mariah will be a “gorgeous bride” adding, “she’s done it once or twice so I think she’d had some experience.”
We can’t wait to see them walk down the aisle!
