The film, which is set to be directed by Jay Roach, is based on the life of screenwriter, Dalton Trumbo.
Variety reports that 68-year-old Mirren would play his wife, Cleo.
Trumbo’s career ended when he was blacklisted after he refused to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) in 1947 during the committee’s investigation of communist influences in the motion picture industry. He won two Academy Awards while blacklisted.
