Dame Helen Mirren left viewers – and herself – stunned when she swore on live television overnight.

The actor – who turned 70 on Sunday – was talking about a camping trip she took with then-boyfriend Liam Neeson in 1980s on Good Morning Britain when she accidentally swore.

“It p***ed with rain,” she said, stunning hosts Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway into silence before they began profusely apologising to viewers.

“We can’t say things like that first thing in the morning!” Shephard told the shocked star.

Mirren was visibly appalled by the slip-up, quickly amending her story.

“I’m so sorry!” she said. “Oh, I’m so sorry! It rained. It rained a lot!”

She then asked the presenters why she couldn’t say “p***ed”, only to be rebuked again, although hilariously.

“Can we have that debate another time or we’ll get fired? You may be the Queen but you can’t save us,” Garraway said.

Mirren played the Queen in the 2006 movie of the same name.
