Helen Mirren was snapped by a paparazzo on an Italian beach in 2008 wearing a red and white bikini. The image went worldwide, receiving praise from women and news outlets for her trim and toned body.
But Mirren said she couldn’t live up to the sex symbol status that followed the release of the photo.
“That bloody photograph … that will haunt me for the rest of my life,” she was quoted as saying in the Herald Sun.
Back in 2011, the actress told the Daily Mail that the image was a lie because she actually didn’t look like that.
“I’ll be forever trying to bury it unsuccessfully,” she said.
