It seems Harrison Ford isn’t ready to lay down his worn leather jacket, fedora and whip just yet. He’s got one adventure left in him, and we’re going to see it all unfold in the fifth instalment of the epic Indiana Jones franchise.
The film is set to return in July 2019, with Steven Spielberg sitting in the hot seat as director.
Disney yesterday announced the exciting news about the yet-to-be-titled film.
“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” said Alan Horn, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios.
“It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”
It will be 38 years since we were first introduced to the charming archaeologist in Raiders of The Lost Ark, and with Ford turning 77 as the new flick will be released, we’re all wondering – is he too old?
With the way the 2008 instalment Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ended, we thought he’d pass on the whip to his grown-up son – played by Shia LaBeouf – but with no plot details released, we’ll just have to wonder.
We’ll be happy with snakes, Nazis and ancient temples. And maybe a brief appearance from his on-screen dad Sean Connery.
Just don’t let there be a weird plot line of aliens. PLEASE.
