Harrison Ford has revealed his 26-year-old daughter Georgia has epilepsy.
While attending the New York University Langone Medical Center’s Find a Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures event (FACES), Harrison fought back tears as he thanked the doctors who eventually diagnosed her with epilepsy.
Langone’s Dr. Orrin Devinsky and FACES “have been a great service to my family,” he said. “I am grateful for that. So I’m happy to be here.
Georgia had her first seizure as a child during a sleepover and was prescribed medicine for acute migraines.
She then had another attack while she was studying in London.
“I admire a lot of things about her. I admire her talent, her strength. She’s my hero. I love her.”
The Star Wars actor and dad-of-five admitted that things aren’t always easy.
“When you have a loved one who suffers from this disease, it can be devastating,” he said.
“You know how it affects their lives, their future, their opportunities and you want desperately to find mitigation.”
“You want to find a way that they can live a comfortable and effective life.”
