They say good things come in small packages, and Aussie songstress Kylie Minogue is living proof of it.
As the diminutive diva turned 49 on May 28, we step back in time to look at the star’s incredible career.
She started out from humble beginnings with a breakout role playing rough and tumble Charlene in Neighbours. When the Melbourne-born beauty left the soapie in 1988 to launch her singing career no one could have predicted just how successful this little pocket rocket would become.
At first, she was cruelly dubbed “the singing budgie” but it didn’t take long for Miss Minogue to prove her naysayers wrong thanks to smash hits like Confide in Me, Where The Wild Roses Grow and On A Night Like This to name a few.
In 2004, the singer scored a Grammy for Best Dance Recording thanks to her hugely-popular track Come into My World.
Well-known for her energetic, vibrant and colourful world tours, Kylie is a force to be reckoned with.
The living legend isn’t just a talented singer – she’s starred in movies like The Moulin Rouge, San Andreas, Street Fighter and Holy Motors. She’s also had cameos on cult shows Kath And Kim and The Vicar of Dibley.
And with a whopping twelve studio albums under her sequinned headdress, there’s no stopping this powerhouse of a pop princess.

“I actually shock myself by some of the things I’ve done. Once the camera starts and someone shouts ‘Action’ I go into a completely different mode. My excuse is that cameras were rolling and it was work,” Kylie has mused of her sexy back catalogue of music videos.
“When I work I punish myself, I don’t stop. When I’ve got time out my main talent is doing nothing. I’ve spent most of my life living in hotels.”
