One of Australia’s favourite comediennes, Magda Szubanski, turns 54 today!
From her cameos on Big Girl’s Blouse and The D Generation to her side-splitting portrayal of Sharon on Kath & Kim, Magda has been contributing to Australian comedy for nearly 30 years.
In celebration of one of our favourite cover girls, The Weekly has put together a gallery of our favourite Magda moments.
Mrs. Esme Hoggett, Babe: “Dearie me! If it’s not a duck that thinks it’s a rooster, it’s a pig that thinks it’s a dog!”
Sharon Strzelecki, Kath & Kim: “Yes, it’s nice, it’s different, it’s unsual.”
Lynne, Fast Forward: “I said pet, I said love, I said pet …”
Brozzie Drewitt, The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course: “I’d offer you a drink, but I don’t want you to stay.”
Mrs. Plonk, Dr. Plonk.
Furlow, Farscape: “Don’t be the hero, John! Always be the one to walk away while the hero dies. That’s my motto.”
Big Jule, Guys and Dolls: “Well, I used to be bad when I was a kid, but ever since then I’ve gone straight, as has been proved by my record: Thirty-three arrests and no convictions!”
Miss Viola, Happy Feet: ” Yes, I like that one. I could really get jiggy with that. Lovely.”
Margaret O’Halloran, Dogwoman: The Legend of the Dogwoman.
Cassandra Wolfe, Goddess: “You have got the most powerful penetration since Julian Assange leaked all over his wiki.”
