Famously Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin announced they were “consciously uncoupling” last year and the pair reportedly made it official by filing for divorce in April.

Talking at the BlogHer conference in New York, the 42-year-old got candid about the ups and downs of co-parenting with the Coldplay front-man.

Despite consistently putting on a harmonious display the actress explained, “It’s been hard, and you know, like, we’ve gone through really difficult times with it but we’ve always said, ‘These children are our priority.'”

“What that really means is, ‘Even though today, you hate me and you never want to see me again, like, we’re going to brunch, because it’s Sunday and that’s what we’ll do. The children are our commitment,” the mum-of-two diplomatically added.

The Oscar winner touched on how “lucky” she was that her former husband shares the same outlook and explained, “I really like him, and he’s great and a great dad.”

Ever the realist, Gwyneth said, “I think, unfortunately, though we couldn’t stay in a romantic relationship, our values are very much around the importance of family and the importance of those relationships and I’m lucky that we’re aligned in that way.”

Before adding: “We both, along the way, have been able to really put down our own stuff while we’re together with the family and we made it a priority to be together so that the transition for the children wasn’t, you know, as brutal as it could be.”

Recently, ahead of their daughter Apple’s 11th birthday the parents took their kids to Disneyland with on-lookers describing their interaction as happy while they seemed to enjoy each other’s company.

Thanks Gwyneth and Chris for showing us how it’s done!
