The 46-year-old songstress got exceptionally candid during a chat with LGBT website Pride Source when she was asked how she would feel if any of her three sons came out.
“I would be blessed with a gay son,” she responded.
“I just want my boys to be happy and healthy, and I just ask God to guide me every day to be a good mother because it is not an easy job.”
Gwen and her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale, who previously had a five-year relationship with crossdresser Marliyn aka Peter Robinson in the ’80s, both co-parent their three boys, nine-year-old Kingston, seven-year-old Zuma and the youngest, two-year-old Apollo.
The singer went on to explain that the topic of “sexuality” comes up often in her circle of friends.
“I always ask my gay friends, ‘OK, so what was it like when you were a little boy?’” Gwen quipped.
The No Doubt rocker went on, “I’ve been lucky enough to have such a blessed life. I’ve been able to travel the world and meet so many different kinds of people. And it doesn’t really matter if you’re gay, straight, whatever. There are good and bad people, and I would be happy.”
“I just want my kids to be happy, and whatever journey God gives them is their journey. I just need to be the most supportive mom that I can be and that’s what I’m gonna be,” she added.
And the singer definitely has support from her new beau, Blake Shelton.
The pretty blonde laughed when telling the online publication, “It’s funny, too, because Blake’s mum was a hairdresser growing up, so he was definitely introduced to that world a looong time ago!”
In the past Blake has tweeted, “When it comes to gay/lesbian rights or just feelings… I love everybody.”
Meanwhile, the hands-on mama has been celebrating the Easter long weekend with her three sons in her boyfriend’s hometown of Oklahoma.
