The rockstar couple have confirmed the sad revelation to E! News in a joint statement, which read: “While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment.
“To that end, we respectfully request privacy from the media during this time,” it concluded.
The musicians have three sons together, Kingston, 9, Zuma, 7 and Apollo, 1 and were last spotted as a family in early July.
E! News have reported that the pair cited “irreconcilable differences” on the papers while they both are asking for joint custody of their kids.
Sources have also revealed to Radar Online that the couple signed no pre-nuptial agreements, which mean that 45-year-old Gwen’s reported $USD80 million fortune and 49-year-old Gavin’s $USD39 million net worth will be split evenly between them.
In February the former No Doubt front woman Cosmopolitan Magazine, “It’s a miracle that we could stay together this long.”
She also added: “It’s good to have those days when we both do our own things. I think that’s what keeps relationships going, when both people can be themselves and have their own individuality. That’s especially important for women.”
“I do think he’s quite handsome,” she said. “It’s not the most important thing about him, but it is nice – and he makes really cute babies,” The US The Voice Coach gushed.
Gavin and Gwen married in a beautiful London ceremony in September 2002. Just two years later a paternity test revealed that the British rocker had fathered another child, Daisy Lowe, with UK fashion designer Pearl Lowe.
Despite Gwen’s upset over the bombshell, the couple bounced back and went on to have three gorgeous kids of their own, while Gavin was named as Daisy’s godfather and has since gone on to forge a connection with her.
RIP to one of showbiz’s coolest couples.
