Guy Sebastian is finally breaking his silence over his religious past, admitting he no longer has strong ties to the Adelaide-based Assemblies of God church.
โI was in something that was very manipulative and very controlling, but there are a lot of beautiful people who are in the faith,โ the 35-year-old explained to the Herald Sun.
โFor me, I was in a scenario that didnโt necessarily embrace individuality. It became very much about a set of rules and youโre judged on that. If anybody broke away from it, or questioned it, then you had a โbad attitude,โ or were โdrifting away,โ or โnot worthy,โโ the signer mused.
The father-of-two explores these struggles in his forthcoming soul-pop Part 1 EP on a track called Conscious.
โItโs OK to ask questions and go through your own journey. More so, itโs important to know people grow up differently than you, and they believe different things. Itโs not about whoโs right or wrong,โ the singer explained.

Losing faith: Guy has distanced himself from the Assemblies of God church.
Guy also addressed the most recent season of The X Factor, admitting the low ratings may be a result of the judging panel which was made up of Guy, Mel B, Iggy Azalea and Adam Lambert.
โThe ratings were a huge struggle, but I think there was a lot against us. [The season was brutally short. We said goodbye to four people in one episode. I mean, come on. And it wasnโt the right chemistry on the panel,โ Guy said.
As for Iggy, who courted controversy all season, Guy isnโt a fan.
โSheโs a bit of a weirdo. I donโt really get Iggy. Youโve got to be invested and she didnโt turn up.โ
