It’s been one hell of a year for Grant Denyer.
The 42-year-old has been dealt blow after blow, both personally and professionally in 2019, yet he still manages to keep smiling and remain positive for his wife Chezzi Denyer, and their adorable daughters Scout and Sailor.
At the beginning of the year, Grant’s work schedule was hectic enough to make even the biggest workaholics feel a little anxious.
He was hosting Dancing With The Stars live in Sydney, while getting up the next morning to do breakfast radio on 2Day FM, and also fitting in hosting gigs for shows including Celebrity Name Game.
Then, Grant was hospitalised in July after rupturing a disc in an accident on the family’s Bathurst property, leaving him bedridden for weeks.
Combine that with the surprise axing of his radio show, which he hosted alongside Ed Kavalee and Ash London, and you could forgive Grant for wishing that 2019 would just hurry up and end.
But instead, the affable family man is very much looking forward to spending Christmas with his daughters and wife Chezzi, as he revealed to The Australian Women’s Weekly on the set of our Christmas issue shoot.
“Having kids is the best part of Christmas. I love the music, I love carols and I love creating that festive feel at home,” Grant revealed.
“My dad once produced a Christmas album for charity and we play that every year. He must have made it in about 1985. We all know the words and the songs and it just has a very nostalgic feel when we play it.”

And Chezzi is just as excited to spend some much-needed quality time with her favourite people.
“Carols are a big part of our Christmas! But it’s also all about family. Health, happiness and family is all we’re looking for this Christmas,” she said.
“The start of the year was pretty tough for us health wise, but we’re finishing strong.”
The Christmas issue of The Australian Women’s Weekly is on sale now.
