Kath and Kim star Gina Riley has revealed she is receiving treatment for breast cancer. The 51-year-old, who has annual checks after seeing so many friends battle breast cancer, says the small lump was discovered before Christmas.
“Whenever I read of other women finding breast cancer I want to know how it was found, and for me there was no lump that could be felt by either me or my doctor. It was only that I went to my regular mammogram and ultrasound appointment that it was found,” she says.
“So ladies, get your breasts checked out. Preferably by a health professional.”
Gina had the cancer removed at Melbourne’s Cabrini Hospital and is currently taking a break from work to focus on further treatment.
