When Georgia Love and Lee Elliott announced their engagement to the world, we couldn’t be happier for the two of them.
But for the former Bachelorette, it would’ve been a bittersweet time as she was unable to share her happy news with her loving mum Belinda, who sadly passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2016.
To celebrate what would’ve been her 63rd birthday, Georgia posted a gorgeous photo of her mum smiling with a passionfruit cocktail at the camera.
“Happy birthday Maman 💜 I miss you every single day, but this week has been particularly tough,” Georgia wrote in the caption.
“You would have loved seeing me engaged so much, I just have to trust you’re up there having at least this many drinks to celebrate! ❤️💔”

Of course, her followers were quick to send their love and support on what would have been no doubt a tough day for Georgia and her family.
“So much love to you beautiful George xox 💖💖💖💖,” Georgia’s friend and musical theatre star Lucy Durack wrote.
Another follower said: “It’s lovely that she actually got to meet your future husband, not knowing that he was going to be your husband. If that makes sense xxx”
“She would be over the moon for you and Lee!! Sending you and the fam lots of love today and will be sure to have a drink or few for her by the pool in her memory,” commented another.

Just 24 hours after the Bachelorette finale aired and Georgia and Lee’s love was able to go public, Belinda died in hospital surrounded by her family.
Thankfully, Lee was able to meet his future mother-in-law before her passing telling Woman’s Day, “It meant a lot to me to be there, and I could see how much it meant to Georgia.”
“I feel so blessed. I wish our meeting had been in different circumstances, but that first moment was something that will stay with me forever.”
But despite the sadness of the situation, Lee admitted that Belinda found some humour in the situation.
“There was one moment when she looked at me and said ‘I didn’t think Georgia would pick you,’ and I was like, ‘This is awkward!’ But then she said ‘No, no, only because you were my favourite and Georgia never picks my favourite,” Lee revealed.

Speaking to Stacey June and Kristie Mercer for The Thinkergirls Pod Channel, Georgia admitted: “It was really hard on him, and it was really hard on our relationship. We had a very rocky first six months, and I’m not afraid to say that.”
Since then, Georgia and Lee’s love story has blossomed with Lee proposing to his lady love on the very same boat they had their first date on.
“@leeroyelliott, my fiancé, you absolutely outdid yourself with everything about this incredible surprise weekend. I love you so much and can’t wait to marry you!!!!!! #nowandthen #bacheloretteau,” Georgia captioned a series of photos from the day Lee popped the question.
