George Clooney gushed over his beautiful new wife Amal Clooney as he picked up an award at the 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards.
George, 53, was honoured with the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award for Lifetime Achievement when he took the opportunity to praise his adorable wife during his acceptance speech.
George said: “Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together I couldn’t be more proud to be called your husband.”
Nawww!
George then proceeded to crack a few jokes, poking fun at the infamous Sony hacking scandal that has affected countless celebs in the audience – including himself: “As everyone’s been hacked, it’s always a great time to meet up and apologise for all the things we’ve said.”
George tied the knot with the international human-rights barrister Amal, 36, in a grand ceremony in Venice in September last year, and ever since they have been one of the most high-profile couples in Hollywood.
Earlier in the ceremony, the show’s presenters Tina Fey and Amy Poehler poked fun at notorious bachelor George and his newfound marital status in their opening speech:
“George Clooney married Amal Alamuddin this year.
Amal is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case, was an adviser to Kofi Annan regarding Syria, and was selected to a three-person U.N. commission investigating rules of war violations in the Gaza Strip.
So tonight, her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award.”
Haha, good thing George is able to have a good laugh at his own expense!
