In a candid new interview with friend Charlie Rose on CBS This Morning George discussed how he finally got the girl of his dreams, Amal clooney.
“I knew fairly quickly that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Amal,” the handsome 54-year-old revealed.
“When I asked her we had never talked about it. There wasn’t like ‘Maybe we should get married.’ I dropped it on her,” he told the host of his proposal.
The former ER heartthrob couldn’t resist adding some humour to the tender moment: “It was completely unexpected, so finally I just said ‘Listen, I’m 52 and I’ve been on my knee now for about 28 minutes, so I gotta get an answer out of this or I’m gonna throw a hip out,” he quipped.
Amal, who is a well-respected human rights lawyer, accepted the offer and the genetically blessed couple married in September last year in a stunning Venice ceremony.
George, who was clearly smitten discussing the topic, told the journalist: “I have someone I can talk to about anything and someone who I care about more than I’ve cared about anything, so it’s really nice.”
During the press tour for his new movie Tomorrowland the actor told PopSugar that fame is “a tough adjustment” for his wife.
However, Amal is no stranger to difficult circumstance, she speaks three languages, is a successful barrister and is tireless human rights activist, fame is a piece of cake in comparison.
