George and Amal Clooney are undoubtedly the most fascinating couple in Hollywood and as they celebrate two years of wedded bliss we look back at their epic love story.
The year was 2013 he was the world’s biggest movie star and she was an accomplished human rights lawyer, and when Amal Alamuddin met George Clooney in Italy they knew it was meant to be.
A year after they met in Europe through mutual friends, they were back in the romantic location to tie the knot on September 27, 2014. As the talented power couple celebrate two years of marriage their union only continues to grow.
George, 55, and Amal, 38, are never short on a compliment about each other with the dashing actor telling Entertainment Tonight, “She’s an amazing human being and she’s caring and she also happens to be one of the smartest people I’ve ever met and she’s got a great sense of humour.”
And who could forget the Golden Globes speech which melted the entire world’s hearts as the Gravity star gushed, “Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn’t be more proud to be your husband.” Swoon!
Although they’re an intensely private couple there is one thing that we do know for sure – George and Amal’s love story is one for the ages.

Taking on the world! 2016 has been the year of the Clooneys with the couple working hard on their mission to help refugees with their passion project, The Clooney Foundation for Justice.
In May this year, the couple met with Pope Francis at the Sixth World Congress of Pontifical Foundation Scholas in Vatican.
George and Amal Clooney were the ultimate power couple at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.
The Oceans actor told CBS that it was very much a case of love at first sight, “I knew fairly quickly that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Amal.”
It was the wedding of the decade, with George and Amal tying the knot in Venice among some very famous friend including, Emily Blunt, Cindy Crawford and Anna Wintour. The human rights lawyer stunned in a custom-made Oscar de la Renta gown.
George and Amal divide their time between the US and the UK. Last year, the human rights lawyer made some time to stop by George’s set in New York.
“I’m always very proud of her when I see her speaking at the international court of appeals in Strasbourg with her robe on,” the actor explained to ET about his Beirut-born wife.
“Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn’t be more proud to be your husband. It’s humbling when you find someone to love, even better when you’ve been waiting your whole life and when your whole life is 53 years,” George mused in his 2015 Golden Globes speech.

“I have someone I can talk to about anything and someone who I care about more than I have anybody – it’s nice,” Mr Clooney said to CBS about his beautiful wife. Here the couple turn heads at the premiere of Tomorrowland in Tokyo in 2015.
Last May, George took Amal and her niece Mia to the Tomorrowland premiere at Disneyland. The pair are both naturals with children and perhaps one day will start their own family.
Amal Clooney has quickly become a style icon with her doting husband explaining to ET, “Since the day I met her she’s always had this insanely, it’s eccentric but it’s fun, sense of fashion.”
