Geoffrey Edelsten got down on bended knee in the birdcage at the Melbourne Cup today to pop the question to his girlfriend Gabi Grecko.
Yes, the disgraced former doctor, 71, has already popped the question to his 25-year-old model girlfriend earlier this year, but with their tumultuous on-again, off-again relationship, it seemed that only a grand public gesture would do for the extravagant young blonde.
It doesn’t get much grander than at the “Race that stops the nation”, and Gabi certainly made a grand entrance alongside the many other fashion-savvy stars in attendance.
Gabi arrived sporting a bizarre corseted outfit covered in sequined clown faces, accessorised with what appeared to be armour on her arms and an elaborate feathered headdress that looked like a set of wings.
Geoffrey meanwhile was no shrinking violet himself as he was dressed head to toe in a garish shade of yellow. That only helped to pull in the crowd though as hoards gathered around to witness Geoffrey get down on bended knee and pop the question to his young fiancé.
Geoffrey presented her with a pear-shaped diamond, which Gabi immediately accepted with an excited “Yes!”.
The pair will still need to await for Geoffrey’s divorce from his second wife Brynne to be finalised.
