The Nirvana frontman’s 1994 death shocked the music industry, with the then-27-year-old passing away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

While only just a one-year-old when he died, Frances, now 24, often posts heartfelt posts about the late rocker and has spoken about how she feels his presence and influence everywhere.

“I was around 15 when I realised he was inescapable,” she told Rolling Stone in 2015. “Even if I was in a car and had the radio on, there’s my dad.”

And while the tragic circumstances surrounding his death obviously devastated the family, Frances, whose mother is former-Hole frontwoman and actress Courtney Love, understands his huge impact on the music industry – even more than two decades after his death.

“He’s larger than life and our culture is obsessed with dead musicians. We love to put them on a pedestal,” she says. “If Kurt had just been another guy who abandoned his family in the most awful way possible… But he wasn’t.”

“He inspired people to put him on a pedestal, to become St. Kurt,” Frances continues. “He became even bigger after he died than he was when he was alive. You don’t think it could have gotten any bigger. But it did.”
